There's nothing quite like going outside for a jog. The air is fresh, the birds sweetly chirping. And you pass all kinds of other people, also interested in enjoying the sunshine. But, what if you don't live in a place where you can jog easily? No problem. With a treadmill, you can get just as much exercise as you would outside, but avoid the smog and other fumes that might occur if you live in a big city.
You also won't have to deal with unfriendly dogs who might slip their leashes, obnoxious bikers who pass you with little room to spare, wind blowing your hair, or a sudden rain shower. Of course, "the outside" should not be something to be avoided, but there are plenty of reasons why it makes a lot of sense to have a treadmill in the home, so that regardless of the weather outside, you can get some exercise.
A treadmill is a large piece of equipment, admittedly, but in these health conscious times, few visitors to your home will say, "Oh, look at that big treadmill taking up all that space." They'll be more apt to say, "Hey, can I try it?"
The more sophisticated treadmills will have all sorts of features. Variable speed controls. A walking pad that lifts up at an angle to simulate walking up a hill, and so on. You will want a treadmill with sturdy construction, and of course with an emergency off switch in case you suddenly stop walking.
You can shop online for such a treadmill, or stop at your local sports store or department store. You might even luck out and find a used treadmill at a used sports store, or in a garage sale. So shop around, and pick up a treadmill to suit your needs.
