Oatmeal is good because it has no sugar. Adding cinnamon and walnuts makes it a super fighter. Cinnamon balances your blood sugar and the oatmeal helps lower cholesterol. The walnuts contain Omega-3 and makes you feel fuller longer. These are complex carbohydrates and not simple carbohydrates. The simple carbohydrate causes insulin to spike, which limits your body's use of fats as fuel. If you clear out the insulin, then your body burns your fat.
Other good protein-rich foods are cottage cheese, peanut butter, egg whites, beans and high fiber granola bars (which have four grams or more.) Protein gives you energy and some have hormones that tell your brain you are full. These have fewer calories and some boost your metabolism. Spicy foods help fight fat storage. Hot sauce has capsaicin, which levels out insulin. When the insulin goes down, then the body starts using the stored body fat. All fruits and vegetables, whether they’re fresh, frozen or canned, are good foods to eat at any point in the day. You should not eat canned fruit in heavy syrup or with sugar added. You should always be aware of the portion size of the foods you eat.
The use of lemon, mustard, balsamic vinegar, wine, herbs, garlic and/or yogurt as a condiment reduces the calories you are eating. As well, you should drink water and not any sweetened drinks.
