There are basically three things personal trainers look for in clients. They want a client who is dedicated and committed to reach their goals. They want their clients to be relatively healthy so that they can keep up. Finally, personal trainers look for clients who are cooperative.
Personal trainers are very adamant about dedication and commitment to a training routine and schedule. They are looking for people who make a decision on a course of action and stick to it. A personal trainer's patience is strained when clients miss scheduled training sessions, especially if they don't notify the trainer in advance. The client and personal trainer decide of a plan of action to get desired results. When sessions are missed the results of the training is compromised.
Persons with serious medical problems are clients that personal trainers avoid unless presented with a doctor's approval letter. It is difficult to judge exactly what level of work intensity that kind of client can handle. Personal trainers also watch for symptoms of any undisclosed medical issues.
Reaching a desired goal in physical training can only be accomplished when the client cooperates with the personal trainer. The trainer accesses the client's ability, the expected outcome and creates a plan to get it done in a specific period of time. When a client argues with the personal trainer about methods and modes of training it impedes progress. The client must have the mindset that the trainer is the leader and is responsible for helping the client to reach their goal. The trust between a client and personal trainer is essential for a productive relationship.
